That’s Mister Galactic Hero Thank You Very Much

For all you Disney fans out there, I had a chance to ride the newly refurbished Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin at Magic Kingdom last night, and, not to put too fine a point on it, I—ahemSAVED THE GALAXY (you’re welcome).

Close up of the galaxy’s latest hero wearing a gray hoodie and holding his hero medal.

As you can see, Disney spared no expense, awarding us Galactic Heroes with a generic “I’m Celebrating” button embellished with a not-quite-color-matched sticker, but, hey, I’ll take it.

But just how heroic am I? Since the minimum requirement for galactic herohood is 1,000,000 points, I’d say…not very:

Digital display with 'You are a Galactic Hero!' text and the number 1,193,695, which is the number of points scored by said Galactic Hero.

Not gonna lie, if the ride hadn't stopped on multiple occasions for minutes at a time, allowing me to rack up hundreds of thousands of bonus points, I wouldn't have come close. Some heroes are forged in the fires of destiny and perilous, inescapable whatchamacallits, and some heroes come by it naturally, stumbling into it mostly due to incredible luck and/or unplanned mechanical breakdown. You can sleep soundly now that you know your galaxy is protected by...er, one of those, I guess.
